Mayda AT&T

Mayda developed the AT&T 5G Helmet in collaboration with Gallaudet University’s deaf and hard-of-hearing NCAA football program, enabling players to receive real-time play calls during games. Working with helmet manufacturer Riddell, the team integrated a 5G transmitter, battery system and prismatic visual display into a SpeedFlex helmet, using AT&T’s ultra-low latency 5G network to deliver visual play calls during live gameplay. The challenge was embedding this technology inside a high-impact football helmet without compromising safety. Multiple prototype iterations were required to integrate the custom hardware while maintaining the helmet’s structural integrity and NCAA safety compliance.
